4. Chest Discomfort or Pressure
Chest pain is the most recognized symptom of a heart attack, but before the actual event, many people experience mild or intermittent discomfort.
It may feel like:
- Pressure or heaviness in the chest
- A squeezing sensation
- Burning similar to heartburn
The discomfort may also spread to the left arm, neck, jaw, or back.
5. Dizziness or Lightheadedness
Feeling dizzy or faint may indicate that the brain is not receiving enough oxygen-rich blood.
This symptom can occur when:
- Blood pressure suddenly drops
- The heart cannot pump enough blood to the brain
Some people report frequent episodes of lightheadedness in the weeks before a heart attack.
