Crispy Heaven

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cheese

Cut the cheese into evenly sized cubes, approximately ¾ inch (2 cm). Keeping the pieces uniform helps them cook evenly.

If using mozzarella, pat it dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Step 2: Prepare the Coating

Place your chosen coating ingredient in a shallow bowl.

If desired, mix in garlic powder, paprika, dried herbs, or black pepper to add extra flavor.

Step 3: Coat the Cheese

Roll each cheese cube in the coating until every surface is completely covered.

Press gently so the coating adheres well. Shake off any excess before frying.

Step 4: Heat the Oil

Pour enough oil into a frying pan to create a layer about ¼ inch (6 mm) deep.

Heat over medium to medium-high heat until the oil reaches approximately 350°F (175°C). If you don't have a thermometer, sprinkle in a few breadcrumbs—they should sizzle immediately without burning.

Step 5: Fry

Carefully place the coated cheese into the hot oil without overcrowding the pan.

Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side until the coating becomes deep golden brown and crisp.

Turn gently using tongs or a slotted spoon.

Step 6: Drain

Transfer the cooked cheese bites onto paper towels to remove excess oil.

Serve immediately while the centers remain hot and perfectly melted.

  • Always start with hot oil.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan.
  • Keep the cheese pieces similar in size.
  • Work in small batches.
  • Serve immediately after frying.
  • If using very soft cheese, chill it for 20–30 minutes before coating.

Once you've mastered the basic recipe, it's easy to create exciting new versions with different cheeses, seasonings, and dipping sauces.
